As I continued to read Kite Runner, I had noticed how Amir's character seemed to be changing. He had noticed that his father seemed disappointed in him because he wasn't like the other kids. Amir is the type of child that is fascinated in poetry and reading. His father Baba was the type to do everything that people said he couldn't do. That's why he's so successful today. Because his father has doubts on him of being able to not take care of himself when he gets older, is why Amir feels guilt on his mother's death. So, Amir feels the only to satisfy him is to win annual kite flying tournament which is being held in his neighborhood. During the tournament, Baba is watching Amir and Amir doesn't want to let him down. One way to make it easier to win is to cover the strings with broken glass so that the losing kite will fly loose. As he did that, he ended up winning the tournament and all he had to do was bring back kite for Baba. But, something that will change Amir's life forever happened and now he has to live with the guilt. I feel as if Amir is starting to get himself caught up into getting his father affection back that he doesn't even know who he's hurting in the process. Sometimes caring for only for yourself can make one blind to the outside. Hopefully Baba begins to give Amir more affection. This book just gets more interesting as I continue furthermore.
